Most people are not materialistic at this point they are today, and when Mother's Day began, it began as a way for American companies earn too greedy and money. It was created as a day for families to meet and together with her mother. It was a day when the children were not in the things of the house of his mother, his gift to her, and sometimes fixing a nice dinner for them.
Materialism and greed is one thing, today, things have changed in the last 40 or 50 years and when I think about it, materialism is often only a superficial way to show someone you love. It's nice to buy someone a card and flowers or candy and give it to someone, but love must go beyond.
Love is a gift, so you took their way to make someone happy. Love is in the service of someone and expect them to (sit, work) and make life easier for them in any way andou can. Love is someone to do all the time, not only in the designated holiday when some people to buy gifts and suddenly think that they are their "duty" to help someone else. True love is not superficial, it's a way to give yourself to do things and show our love for each other in everything we can to make the happiest person.

It's like Valentine's Day, the idea is good but the execution is terrible.
They are no longer the possibility of Hallmark and flower companies to make money, because nobody does anything from their parents or loved one that you buy just ****.
They have similar trips to Japan, but usually have lots of festivals and fun as it is not "Mom Happy Mothers Day" and then the day, keep them as here.
I think, most of our holidays or special occations from the card companies formed as Halmark. The cards are very expensive and getting worse every day. Think about this:
January - New Year
February - Valentine's Day and Leap Year
Marah - St. Patricks Day and the first day of spring
April - Earth Day
May - Mother
June - Father's Day
July - Independence Day
August - I do not know, a
September - I do not know, a
October - Halloween, grandmother's Day 2 Sunday
November - Thanksgiving Veterans Day
December - Christmas and Hanukkah
